Text papers
Three papers are available as
standard:
Bulky Newsprint is the
only paper available from stock for the small
‘A’ format
but is also available and often used in ‘B’
format paperbacks. It is widely used for novels or lower
cost books when paper quality is not too important.
‘Standard White’
is the name we give the standard quality ‘book
wove’ type paper generally used for books in ‘B’,
Demy and Royal formats.
‘High White’
is a brighter white version of ‘Standard White’, more expensive
and a little more up-market, and slightly stiffer, and
also widely used in ‘B’, Demy and Royal
formats.
If photos or detailed illustrations are to print on
the text paper, ‘Standard White’ normally
allows a very acceptable result, but ‘High
White’ is better.
A fourth paper ‘Smooth
White’ is also sometimes
available in Demy and Royal formats, and is even better for photos or detailed illustrations. We will offer
this as an alternative when appropriate.
In our estimates we will show alternative papers whenever
we think this might be useful, but if nothing different
is required or requested we will allow for and supply ‘Standard White’
as standard (and ‘Bulky
Newsprint’ for ‘A’
format).
