Number of pages
For technical reasons the minimum
number of finished pages for paperback or hardback production
is 64, including all preliminary pages and any blanks
etc. This is roughly equivalent to 15,000 words of standard
text (or fewer for a children’s book using a larger
typesize). However we can often use a generous page
design, or other devices, in order to help a ‘short’
text to come up to the minimum number of finished pages
and still look good. So even if your text seems a little
too short, we may still be able to help.
On our cost estimate we will give you an indication
of the likely number of finished pages – or a
range – based on your word count and chosen format.
Your choice of typestyle and page layout (from samples
we show you when the work is ready to proceed) will
also determine the number of finished pages, and the
exact total can only be finally confirmed once the text
is in production at our typesetters. But our estimate
should serve as a good guide. To assist us with this
please send a copy of your final text on disk, if available,
with your completed cost estimate request form.
