Formats – Paperback/Hardback
We offer a range of formats all
of which are available in paperback, and the two largest
sizes (‘Demy’ and ‘Royal’) are
also available in hardback. Please see the options indicated
on the cost estimate request form.
Paperbacks are of course the most economical and the
most popular: from the ‘A’ format ‘pocket’
size 178 x 111mm, through the intermediate and very
popular ‘B’ format size 198 x 128mm, to
the more up-market Demy size 216 x 135mm, and the largest
format Royal size 234 x 153mm. We can also sometimes
offer slightly different sizes where the nature of the
book or content requires it.

Hardbacks (available in Demy or Royal formats only)
are much more expensive to produce than the equivalent
book in paperback. As standard we allow for the ‘traditional’,
up-market style of binding with a cloth-look material
(available in different colours) covering the boards,
silver or gold colour foil-blocking on the spine, and
a separate printed and laminated dustjacket wrapped
around. However a small saving is available for replacing
the ‘cloth’ material and dustjacket with
a printed and laminated ‘case cover’ glued
directly onto the boards.
